QSAR Lab is a spin off company, whose founders are scientists at the Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, University of Gdansk. The company enables to cooperate the academic and the business environment together and by leveraging the potential and resources of the University of Gdansk, a leading university in the Region, offers innovative researches and services in computer modeling and in silico based on QSAR methods.
Head of the Laboratory of Environmental Chemometrics at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Gdansk. Current research interests of the Team relates to the development of computer methods to support the design of new products (nanomaterials, ionic liquids) that are safe for human health and the environment.
He is the editor of 4 books, the main author or co-author of 12 book chapters, more than 100 full research papers for peer-reviewed journals, 20 short papers published in conference proceedings (other than conference abstracts), and 2 other publications addressed to the industry and enterprises. His contributions have been cited more than 1,500 times, excluding self-citations, h-index = 25. Tomasz Puzyn, Ph.D.,D.Sc. is an active member of the international emvironment involved in the issues of chemical safety and nanotechnology: as the leader of two international projects thanks to the EU 7th Framework Programme (NanoBRIDGES and NanoPUZZLES), initiatives under the European Nanosafety Cluster and as a member of the Steering Committee of the MODENA Action, implemented within the framework of COST - European Cooperation in Science and Technology. He is also the winner of many prestigious national and international awards, i.e.: individual scholarship of the Japanese Association for the Promotion of Science, grants of the Foundation for Polish Science (programmes: START, HOMING and FOCUS), a scholarship of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education holder and the winner of the Polish Prime Minister Prize for the best habilitation thesis in 2012.
In the QSAR Lab Ltd. spin-off company, professor Puzyn acts as CEO and Scientific Director, being reponsible primarily for the operation of the Company in the area of research and development and for the scientific supervision of carried out services.
is a manager with 10 years of experience in the consulting industry, specializing mainly in consulting in the field of project management, business models and obtaining external financing.
He has Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate, the most recognized certificate in the field of project management issued by Project Management Institute - an international institute associating project managers and PRINCE2 Foundation certificate.
He prepared dozens of applications for subsidies from national funds (Operational Program Innovative Economy, national funds of the National Center for Research and Development) and foreign funds (EU 7th Framework Programme, Horizon 2020), acquiring over 150 million PLN.
In the QSAR Lab Ltd. spin-off company, Pawel Bajurski acts as CFO and Managing Director. He is primarily responsible for its business function: organizational, sales and financial aspects.
Dr. Eng. Karolina Jagiello works as an Assistant Professor at the Laboratory of Environmental Chemometrics at Faculty of Chemistry at University of Gdansk, Poland. She specialize in data analysis and chemoinformatics, with particular emphasis on development and application of efficient computational methods for designing new chemicals (mainly pharmaceuticals and biomatrials). Computational methods might be interesting not only because they are faster and less inexpensive than the extensive experimental studies, but their use also leads to the reduction of animal testing (ethical and company image).
Dr. Eng. Jagiello is the author of the research publications in the fields of chemistry and environmental risk assessment in leading international journals (e.g. Environmental Software and Modelling, Environmental Science & Technology) and author of several chapters in books. Dr. Jagiello was on the 2 post-doctoral internships in Japan (National Institute for Environmental Studies) and 1 post-doctoral internship in USA (Jackson State University). She participates in the implementation of two research grants funded by the European Commission and one founded by the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
Within the QSAR Lab Dr. Eng. Jagiello is responsible for direct supervision of conducted research services.
Works as an Assistant Professor in at the University of Gdansk, Poland, Laboratory of Environmental Chemometrics at Faculty of Chemistry. Her research work is based on the development and use of the computational methods to assess the risk to the environment and human health posed by new chemicals (mainly ionic liquids and pharmaceuticals). She has experience in the application of chemometric methods for data analysis, QSAR/QSPR modeling for estimating the relationship between chemical structure of compound and activity/physicochemical properties as well as in the application of statistical/chemometric methods for experimental optimization.
Dr. Eng. Sosnowska is the author of the research publications in the fields of chemistry and environmental risk assessment in leading international journals (e.g. Green Chemistry, Environmental Science & Technology, Journal of Hazardous Materials), author of several chapters in books and more than 40 oral and poster presentations presented at national and international conferences.
